What will the candidates do about the rising immigration problem?
Hillary Clinton |
Donald Trump |
Hillary plans to enforce comprehensive immigration reform in order to pave a path to “full and equal citizenship”. She wants to end the three- and ten-year bars and additionally protect families; she will only deport individuals who pose a threat to the United States. She wishes to give affordable healthcare to any family regardless if they are immigrants or not and close immigration detention centers. Hillary will create the Office of Immigrant Affairs in order to create integration services and will also increase the promotion of naturalization, including English proficiency programs and further education.

Donald wants to prioritize American jobs and make sure that Americans receive new jobs first. He wishes to work on building a wall on the United States’ southern border and make Mexico pay for its construction. He will detain illegal immigrants who cross the border, get rid of sanctuary cities, and end Obama’s existing immigration policies. Donald wants to reform legal immigration in order to benefit the American people and protect the legal immigrants that already live in the United States. His “10-Point Plan” that includes the building of the wall between the country and Mexico is intended to make American citizens the number one priority.

Jill Stein |
Gary Johnson |
Jill believes in supporting the rights of immigrants and helping them reach the level of citizenship along with making them feel welcomed. She wants to stop the action of deporting and detaining illegal immigrants and refugee families and demilitarize the crossing of the border. She would try to better the economy and society in order to lessen the amount of refugees and immigrants that enter the United States which would be done with several measures including the repeal of NAFTA.
|
Gary wishes to create a quick method of obtaining visas for immigrants and doing background checks. He also wants to make immigrants pay taxes and get proof of employment. His goal is to make it easier to individuals to legally enter the United States, as he believes that prohibiting individuals from entering will not benefit the country.
