The Electoral College
The electoral vote is conducted by an institution called the electoral college. They indirectly elect the president and are one of the incredibly pivotal factors in who wins the election. In total, there are 528 electors and a presidential candidate needs to gain at least 270 electoral votes in order to win; it follows a representative republic structure.
