Should there be restrictions on the Second Amendment?
Hillary Clinton |
Donald Trump |
Hillary believes that military weapons should be taken off the streets. She believes no one should own those types of weapons. Citizens on the No-Fly list and under FBI watch should be allowed to own guns. Gun shows and buying guns online should have harsher background checks so criminals will not try to exploit loopholes and buy a gun. Those who are gun-holders should have their license taken away if they commit a crime. Those who sell guns to other who are prohibited should be prosecuted. Hillary also believes that people with mental illnesses should also be prohibited from buying guns.

Donald believes the Second Amendment should not be restricted in any way. Instead, to decrease crime with guns, Donald believes that America should bring back Project Exile, a project to remove gangs and drug dealers from communities to make them safer. He believes gun-holders should be empowered, so that they can defend themselves when the police can’t. He believes violent criminals should be prosecuted and better health clinics made to aid those with mental issues.

Jill Stein |
Gary Johnson |
Jill Stein believes that there should be regulations on guns. She believes that communities should work together to regulate guns in their community. She also believes in more rigorous background checks and that we need to keep guns out of the hands of those considered mentally ill. Thus, she believes mental health should be more affordable so that those who are mentally ill could receive treatment and reduce the risk of those people acquiring guns. Another important factor of gun violence to Jill Stein is drug violence. Thus, Jill wishes to legalize marijuana to reduce drug violence and thus reduce gun violence. She also believes that banning assault weapons and closing gun show loopholes should help reduce gun violence in the United States.

Gary Johnson believes that putting restrictions on gun control will only increase crime. He believes that if guns became outlawed, only outlaws will own guns. Law-abiding citizens will turn in their guns, but criminals will not. Gary believes the open-carry or concealed weapon policies will help deter crime. He believes that allowing all citizens to own guns will make criminals “think twice” before they try to commit a crime. Gary Johnson believes in the right of the Second Amendment.
