Hillary Clinton: DemocratHillary Clinton, born on October 26, 1947, has been the First Lady from 1993 to 2001, Secretary of State from 2009 to 2013, a Senator for New York from 2001 to 2009, and a lawyer. She met Martin Luther King Jr. when she was young, and his work inspired her to work hard and become a social justice activist. After law school, Clinton began to work in the Children's Defense Fund, to help children with disabilities gain an education. In 1988 and 1991, Hillary was placed in the top 1 hundred most powerful lawyers in America by The National Law Journal. During her term as the Secretary of State, Hillary fought for women's rights and human rights, and tried to lead efforts to close the gap between the Arab spring and to create a military intervention in Libya. On September 11, 2012 the State Department, which was under Clinton’s leadership, became prime suspects in an attack in Benghazi, Libya that killed the U.S ambassador and three others. Clinton missed her first scheduled testimony due to health concerns. Her second testimony, Clinton took blame for the attack but defended her actions on the basis that she only does what she believes is best for our country's security and safety. In May 2014, The House Select Committee on Benghazi was created to further investigate the attack, and Clinton was once again brought in again to testify. After eleven hours of defending her case, Clinton was pronounced not guilty for the attacks, but failed to realize the security risk of Libya. She has also been under investigation due to her usage of a personal email to open classified emails. These emails were deleted, and though Hillary has taken the blame for these missing emails, the suspicious as to what may have happened to these emails remain.
